I was asked to comment on the unfolding economic crisis in the UK for Press TV’s Spotlight programme on Saturday 3 December 2022

Britain inflation rate stands at 41-year high of 11.1% amid soaring food and energy prices. UK media say soaring costs of living have pushed Britons in some regions to eat pet food. UK workers from health, transport, education, and postal sectors set to go on strike in December, while government blames war in Ukraine and Covid-19 as main culprits in economic downturn. Press TV interviews Syed Mohsin Abbas, journalist and political commentator, and Clive Menzies, researcher and political economy analyst, both from London, to look at economic crisis in UK under Rishi Sunak.

We have a new prime minster “pigeon” in the form of Rishi Sunak who replaced the luckless Liz Truss. No doubt there are more pigeons lining up for their 15 minutes of fame before they are discarded having served their purpose. The smarter ones are jumping ship or have already departed…
